CRIMINAL & ROAD TRAFFIC CASES

The Criminal Department is headed by Matthew Swash, based at the Braintree office, who together with Harvey Foster, a Legal Executive, who is based at the Sudbury office, provide a prompt, friendly and professional service to clients in all aspects of their cases.

At Steed & Steed, we believe that everyone has the right to a fair hearing. If you are arrested you are entitled to free legal representation at any Police Station. We provide advice and assistance under our Legal Help Scheme from the time of arrest through to representation at either Youth, Magistrates’ or Crown Court level.

Cases are generally covered under the firm’s Legal Aid Franchise, which has been held since 1998, but cases can also be dealt with on a private client basis, when written cost estimates are always given.

Steed & Steed specialises in all areas of criminal work and also deal with road traffic cases. The team of qualified staff deal with Defence work in private prosecutions, for example, brought by Local Authorities, DSS and the Health & Safety Executive. They have also acted for families at Inquest Hearings, and regularly attend Courts and Police Stations in both Essex and Suffolk, but additionally conduct cases and arrange for representation arising in London and throughout the Country.
